the train stations of life

I often find myself waiting at stations

for trains I didn't know were coming

just for one to come rushing by,

barely enough time to reach it

before it runs away at twice the speed.

my most frequent trains require me

to hang on for dear life

while I jump from cabin to cabin

to find a seat before the speed knocks me down.

the trains are always packed

and yet those people seem fine

everyone but me is calmly drinking hot tea

while I can barely hold on to my glasses.

all I ask for this birthday

is a train station with speed breakers.
